Poem: This Time

// January 15th, 2010 // Comments Off // Art

Here is a poem I wrote which could easily turn into a song down the line….

Innocence is a gift you are given
You are hurt and then forgive them
Its not as easy as it seems
people make it out to generally be

But sometimes you have to move on
Move on to a place that you can rely on
where faith and fear and peace they all collide
It is the place where you find that you’re alright

This is the time this is the place
when you lay it down on the line
and it breaks binds of the lies
that held you down from a new horizon
that held you back and kept you blinded

This time you’ve gone too far
This time you’ve cut too deep
This time is last time I will say this line.. this time.

This is really true what he is saying.  It’s important for any creative person to hear this.

All Polaroid film expires very soon….

// July 28th, 2009 // Comments Off // Art

According to Polaroid, all of their "instant film" is scheduled to expire by september of 2009. (source).

You may ask…
What happens when it expires?
Well nothing instantly happens but over the course of the year it will take photos a bit washed out and possibly create brown spots once the ink starts drying up.
Now its not a total loss because the fact that this stuff happens to polaroid film is one of the joys of it and really makes for some unique photos.

What can I do to make the film last longer?
Keep it in a refrigerator… this will slow down the decay of the film and keep the ink chemicals from drying out too quickly. Polaroid film cannot be frozen as it will damage the film so make sure to keep it in a vegetable drawer of the fridge.

Here is an example of a photo taken with expired film…

// July 27th, 2009 // Comments Off // Art, Internet, Video

Two typographers ( Pierre & Damien / plmd.me ) and a pro race pilot (Stef van Campenhoudt) collaborated to design a font with a car.
The car movements were tracked using a custom software, designed by interactive artist Zachary Lieberman. ( openframeworks.cc )

3D Building Projection that makes you say WOW

// July 27th, 2009 // Comments Off // Art, Video

This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in awhile…

555 KUBIK_ extended version from urbanscreen on Vimeo.

The conception of this project consistently derives from its underlying architecture – the theoretic conception and visual pattern of the Hamburg Kunsthalle. The Basic idea of narration was to dissolve and break through the strict architecture of O. M. Ungers "Galerie der Gegenwart". Resultant permeabilty of the solid facade uncovers different interpretations of conception, geometry and aesthetics expressed through graphics and movement. A situation of reflexivity evolves – describing the constitution and spacious perception of this location by means of the building itself.

Did you know that nasa has tons of cool photos that are free to use.

The bookcoverarchive.com says… "All publicly available NASA images are on nasaimages.org, which is co-operated by the Internet Archive. It is most likely legal for you to use them for any purpose (commercial or otherwise) unless there’s someone famous in the image. Keep reading for more detail…"

I just thought I would share.

Working on the Go

// March 24th, 2009 // Comments Off // Art

One of the downfalls of working on any laptop is that once you buy them, they get outdated and slower than desktops very quickly because you can’t really upgrade them.

I just HATE working on my laptop because of this fact.   My laptop has 2 operating systems installed on it.

1. Windows XP only used for Live Musical Performance up on the Stage (smooths fast and flawlessly).
2. Windows XP Media Center which I use for web browsing and everything else.

I thought to myself yesterday that I’d like to be able to have a separate install just for graphic,web and video editing but I looked at my hard drive space and saw that I was out of room.

SOLUTION!  I’m going to install a separate installation of windows on an external usb hard drive and just boot from that drive. This way I could potentially plug it into any other computer to just start working on stuff.
The only issue is that not all computers can boot from a USB drive but the good news is that most newer computers powerful enough to do what I want will actually have that feature.
My Laptop came with a free version of Vista that I never installed so I think I’m gonna use it on this hard drive… so it will not only be my first USB bootable drive but my first Vista machine.

This would be a good solution for anyone who uses their laptop professionally like designers, photographers etc.. just so they can keep clients work completely separate, secure and safe from the everyday dangers of dinking around on the internets.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.
